Description

This telescope has a round parallel cardboard barrel.  It is covered with red leather that has silver (now somewhat darkened) and gold floral and geometric designs.  The objective lens is mounted in a brass cell, with a screw-on lens cap.  The single objective lens is non-achromatic.  It has three cardboard draws, covered in green vellum (skin of a young animal, such as calf, kid, or lamb), with floral designs on their ocular ends.  All three draws have black lines around their circumference, near their objective ends, indicating how far they should be extended for focusing. This is because none of the draws have retention.  Also, the barrel and first and second draws have protective rings of horn on their ocular ends.  The three lens eyepiece system is contained in the smallest draw, which has a brass extension having a screw-on cap.  It is signed "Olivo   Venezia"   on the middle of the barrel, with the objective at the bottom.
