Description |
This very large telescope has a round tapered mahogany barrel, originally covered with brown leather. A green wool fabric cover has been sewn over the leather. The objective lens is an achromatic doublet with a sliding shade. The push-on lens cap is missing. It has a single short brass draw (without retention), a four lens eyepiece, and a tapered eyecup with a swivel cover. The front lens is missing in the eyepiece. It is signed "Dollond * London" on the rear brass collar of the barrel, with the draw to the bottom. Also, engraved on the draw, with the eyecup to the right, is "For Day Objects." |
