Description |
This telescope has a round tapered mahogany barrel, wrapped with tape and painted red. The objective lens was an achromatic doublet, but the front lens is missing. The brass lens cell had a sliding cover, but it I also missing. It has a single brass draw (without retention), a four lens eyepiece, and a tapered eyecup, missing its slide cover. It is signed "Improv'd Sea Telescope Gilbert & Co. London" on the draw, with the eyecup to the left. |
