Description |
This telescope has a round parallel wood barrel. The objective lens cap, with a sliding cover, screws into the front of the extendable shade. The objective is an achromatic doublet. It has one draw, that is segmented, a four lens eyepiece, and a tapered eyecup with a sliding cover. It is signed "Dolland, London, Day or Night" on the draw, with the eyecup to the right. In the late 1700s and early 1800s, the dominant telescope manufacturer was Dollond. Competitors produced telescopes labeled Dolland as counterfeits and to avoid legal issues. |
