Description |
This Nuremberg style compound microscope is mounted on a round wooden base, supported by three legs. The body tube is turned wood and fits atop a ring attached to the legs. Focusing is done with a brass knob on a threaded shaft that lowers and raises a small circular specimen stage inside the bottom of the tube. The objective lens is located in a wooden cell above the stage. The brass eyepiece is a two lens Huygenian-type and it is secured to the top of the body tube with a collar. The concave mirror is mounted in the center of the base, on a tiltable wooden mount. There is no maker’s signature. |
