ANNOUNCEMENTS

The University of Arizona James C. Wyant College of Optical Sciences announced a $2 million donation from Murray and Kamie Sargent to establish the Murray Sargent III Endowed Chair in Quantum Optics.  This endowment will provide support to a faculty member specializing in the increasingly impactful field of quantum optics. TWO NEW ENDOWED CHAIRS AWARDED AT THE WYANT COLLEGE OF OPTICAL SCIENCES

It is with great pleasure that the Wyant College of Optical Sciences announces that two Endowed Chairs in Optical Sciences have been awarded. The establishment of these endowed chairs has been made possible through the generous donations made by Optica and the Thomas R. Brown Family Foundation, and the $20+ million matching pledge made by the late founding dean of the college, Emeritus Professor James C. Wyant, and his family.

Congratulations to Christian Pluchar (Outstanding OSC Graduate Student), Lindsey Wiley (Outstanding OSC Graduate Student Mentor), Quinn Jarecki (Outstanding OSC Teaching Assistant), Sebastian Magri (Outstanding Senior Award), Amie Rott (Wildcat Award), and Kody Gray (College of Engineering Outstanding Graduate Student TA for OSC) as the 2023-2024 Outstanding Students of the Year. 

LILY MCKENNA AND CAROLYN HOKIN NAMED AMONG OPTICA WOMEN SCHOLARS

Lily McKenna and Carolyn Hokin, Wyant College of Optical Sciences students, were named by Optica Foundation among the twenty exceptional Optica Women Scholars for 2024. Congratulations Lily and Carolyn!

WYANT COLLEGE OF OPTICAL SCIENCES TEAMS AT ENGINEERING DESIGN DAY

On Monday, April 29th, Wyant College of Optical Sciences and College of Engineering teams showcased their interdisciplinary final projects at the Craig M. Berge Engineering Design Day. Congratulations to everyone who participated for their hard work and perseverance, and a special congratulations to those who received a prize. WATTS HAPPENING

LASER FUN DAY | PHOTOS

Laser Fun Day 2024 attracted over 400 visitors and was made possible by over 100 volunteers. On the day of the event, the building was filled with hands-on activities and demonstrations that showcased the amazing world of optics.

ARIZONA QUANTUM BOOT CAMP 

This tri-university Arizona Quantum Boot Camp will be geared toward undergraduate students curious about quantum science. The event will feature lectures, tutorials and talks providing a basic introduction to quantum mechanics and giving a glimpse of research at the frontiers of the field. Learn more and Apply Today!

QUANTUM QUEST GIRLS SUMMER CAMP

Join Qubit by Qubit for the world's first-ever all-girls quantum computing camp to develop skills in the technology of the future! The free summer camp program is built for incoming 9th-12th grade students + college freshmen and runs from July 18 - 22. Learn more on their website!
